Arizona!

Oh Arizona! It was beautiful and hot! As soon as we arrived we decided that we would very much enjoy pool time. It was warm enough that we could take a dip in the unheated pool ,though it got a bit chilly at times. We only stayed in for a short period of time.
One night we had some very good Mexican food at El Encanto Dos. I ordered the Steak Fajitas and they were delish! We also had a melted cheese appetizer served with corn tortillas that I'd never heard of and it was soooo good.
We spent a day in Old Town Scottsdale and had a pleasant time. There were more art galleries than anything else, but we did stumble upon an interesting bookstore that only carried books about the American West and the Civil War. Sara had to buy a "Jim Chee" book to get her through the rest of the week.
The palm trees were amazing. We don't see many palm trees living in Utah so it was a nice change of landscape for a week, but I was glad to get back and see some grass and big leafy trees.

For lunch in Scottsdale we went to the Sugar Bowl, which was a little diner. They served sandwiches and malts, and had a little encased cashier desk that I'd never seen before. It was a very cool place.

Boy, I thought there were a lot of Palm Trees in Arizona, but the plant that takes over is definitely the cactus. There were cactus EVERYWHERE! And not just one type of cactus, but I think there are probably so many different types of cacti that there's no way anyone could know them all by name.

This cactus was call the "Old Man of Mexico" cactus

This looks like something you'd see in a Dr. Seuss book.

We also stumbled upon a statue that looked very similar to Princess Leia with her cinnamon bun hair.
I loved these trees with their beautiful blossoms and then the little fountain and fake grass just completed the scene. :)

Oh ya, did I mention that we ran into the Queen of England at the Arizona Tea Room!? What a shocker!

To top off this post why not a picture of a bedazzled cow skull? Let me tell you, some of those gifts shops were real interesting.
It was altogether a very fun, relaxing week in Arizona with Sara and Shelley. Thanks you two for inviting me along for the adventure!
